American Ladder Institute Opens 2026 Ladder Safety Survey
American Ladder Institute opens its 2026 Ladder Safety Training and Citations Survey.
The American Ladder Institute (ALI) has launched its 2026 Ladder Safety Training and Citations Survey, continuing a multi-year effort to track ladder safety training practices, ladder-related injuries and OSHA citation trends across the United States.
Now in its fifth iteration, the survey builds on previous reports released in 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2024. Together, those surveys have established a long-term dataset examining ladder incidents, citation activity and the effectiveness of safety training. Findings from the 2026 survey will be compiled into a comprehensive report following the close of data collection.
According to ALI, results will identify preferred ladder safety training methods, common types of ladder-related accidents and injuries, the frequency and types of OSHA citations and how current trends compare with past surveys.
ALI is encouraging safety professionals, employers and organizations that use ladders to participate. The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous and not linked to individuals or companies. The deadline to participate is March 31, 2026.
“Results will help ALI continue to improve its ladder safety training materials, hone topics for future observances of National Ladder Safety Month and help professionals and DIYers better understand proper ladder usage,” said Mike Van Bree, president of the American Ladder Institute.
The survey coincides with preparations for the 10th anniversary of National Ladder Safety Month, observed each March. The 2026 theme, “10 Years of Safer Climbing,” focuses on ladder selection, inspection, setup, safe climbing practices and stepstool safety.
ALI also provides free ladder safety training through its dedicated training website, with options for companies to license the program for internal safety initiatives.
