Nanaimo, BC — VMAC, a leader in mobile compressed air innovation, has announced a new collaboration with Miller Technology and Classic Motors to integrate its VR70 air compressor system into Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series vehicles, customized for underground mining and off-road applications.
The partnership brings together VMAC’s VR70 air compressor—renowned for its reliability and power—with Miller Technology’s expertise in outfitting mining service vehicles. These customized Land Cruisers are built to endure the harsh conditions of underground mining and will be deployed globally to support a range of industrial tasks, including tire servicing, pumping, lubrication, and powering air starters for heavy diesel engines.
Hugh McDermid, Vice President of Product and Business Development at Miller Technology, noted the seamless collaboration. “Working with VMAC has been fantastic—from concept development to after-sales support,” said McDermid. “We’ve used other compressors, but nothing compares to VMAC’s performance in mining conditions.”
Classic Motors, a key player in underground mining vehicle distribution, will offer the upgraded Land Cruiser 70 series, which includes the MSHA-approved Cummins engine and the VMAC compressor system. “We’ve trusted VMAC compressors in our vehicles for 25 years,” said Joe Betar, owner of Classic Motors. “They’re the most powerful and durable engine-driven air compressors available.”
The collaboration also points toward future innovations, with Miller Technology currently exploring VMAC compressor integration into its electric vehicle (EV) Land Cruiser models. These EVs have been in successful field use since 2018, highlighting a shared commitment to sustainability and performance in mining environments.
Classic Motors, an authorized VMAC dealer, will distribute the enhanced vehicles across the U.S., including Alaska, ensuring broad access to this upgraded mining solution.
