Speedshield Expands AiVA with Optix Platform for Predictive Safety
Speedshield expands its AiVA system with the Optix platform to improve data visibility and predictive safety on job sites.
Speedshield has announced the launch of Optix, a new cloud-based platform designed to expand the capabilities of its AiVA (Artificial Intelligence Vision Analytics) pedestrian detection system. The platform connects AiVA-equipped equipment across construction, mining and industrial job sites to improve real-time safety visibility and predictive monitoring.
The Optix system serves as a central hub for AiVA, translating millions of live data points into actionable insights. It enables fleet managers and safety teams to identify near-miss incidents, analyze operator behavior and detect trends before they lead to accidents.
“Optix gives our customers the visibility they’ve been asking for,” said Neeti Kulhar, product manager at Speedshield. “Every AiVA unit already captures a wealth of contextual data, such as distances, detection events and equipment state. Optix takes that information and turns it into a clear, interactive picture of what’s happening on the ground, allowing managers to pinpoint risk areas, validate safety interventions and continuously improve for better safety outcomes.”
The platform includes a critical events dashboard that tracks high-risk occurrences and a new analytics interface that visualizes incident frequency and conditions such as vehicle type, time of day and operator activity. Users can also manage site access, transfer equipment and review event video playback through GPS-enabled tools.
Speedshield’s introduction of Optix comes as worksite safety remains a major concern across the construction industry. Between 2020 and 2024, roughly 1.2 million workplace injury claims were reported in the U.S., with vehicle-related incidents making up a significant share.
Speedshield sees Optix as a step toward predictive safety, combining AiVA’s machine vision technology with cloud-based analytics to help operators and managers make proactive safety decisions.
“We’ve known for some time that industrial safety doesn’t stop at detection,” Kulhar added. “With Optix, we’re helping customers move from awareness to understanding. We want to empower both teams on the ground and those in the office to make smarter decisions, reduce false alarms and ultimately prevent the kinds of critical events that cost lives and livelihoods.”
Optix will begin rolling out to Speedshield customers in October, with general availability expected in November 2025.
