The Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA) released its 2025 Projects of the Year, honoring exemplary steel erection work across Arizona, Florida and New Mexico. The annual awards highlight successful teamwork, craftsmanship and precision in both fabrication and erection.

“These projects are excellent examples of how steel erectors bring a variety of services to construction projects,” remarked SEAA executive director Pete Gum.

Gum highlighted that winners included fabricator-erectors working alongside design engineers and a crane services firm supplying rigging, lift planning and panel installation. Notably, this year’s list also features an industrial contractor specializing in material handling systems.

Award winners include ORBIT Industrial Service & Maintenance of Arizona, recognized in the Miscellaneous Metals Over $500,000 category for installing three automated process cranes inside a 3 million-square-foot Lucid Motors plant expansion, coordinating logistics and installation with Schuff Steel.

In Miami, Hodges Erectors won Structural Class I for relocating and installing steel to support new scoreboards and catwalks at the Kaseya Center Arena during live events. Their scope included repeated demobilizations and remobilizations to align with concert and game schedules.

All Things Metal of Phoenix earned the Structural Class II award for a challenging office tenant-improvement project. They overcame plan discrepancies and tight indoor work conditions to install steel for a fitness center, mezzanine and speakeasy while keeping the building occupied and minimizing disruption.

GMF Steel Group of Florida took the Structural Class III award for the Tampa Convention Center’s 600,000-square-foot expansion. The firm coordinated fabrication and erection amid waterfront conditions, using crane barges to deliver materials and meet a compressed 55-day schedule.

In New Mexico, Alliance Riggers & Constructors won Structural Class IV for constructing a performing arts center on a high school site with limited access. Their careful selection of cranes and lift planning enabled the installation of steel, tilt-up walls, staircases and seating platforms near existing structures.

Award recipients receive trophies, feature articles in Connector magazine and opportunities to discuss their work during SEAA peer panels.

Correction: A previous version of this article incorrectly listed ORBIT Industrial Service & Maintenance, LLC under a different award category. The company was the winner in the Miscellaneous Metals Over $500,000 category. The article has been updated to reflect this correction.
