New Holland Construction unveiled its new D-Series mini excavators, starting with the E42D and E50D models, marking a fully in-house design and manufacturing approach intended to enhance operator experience, machine performance and jobsite efficiency.

“The D-Series represents a new era for New Holland Construction excavators: Built by us, for our customers, with every detail focused on operator experience, performance and jobsite efficiency,” said Dan Kakareka, product manager for New Holland Construction North America. “This is the result of what we heard from customers and operators about what they need in this class size. A machine that works harder, handles better and keeps operators comfortable all day long.”

The D-Series is designed to deliver performance across tight and varied work environments, including municipal utility projects, commercial landscaping and agricultural trenching. Features include zero tail swing, long-arm options, steel or rubber tracks and two-way or six-way blades with a standard float function. Both models provide dual auxiliary hydraulic lines, with an optional high-flow line for energy-intensive tools such as mulchers.

Powered by Stage V-certified FPT engines, the D-Series offers fuel efficiency and low emissions. Features such as Eco Mode, auto idle and a reversible cooling fan optimize engine performance while minimizing maintenance time. Service access is simplified with a tipping cab/canopy and large side and rear panels. The machines are compatible with a wide array of attachments, including hammers, grapples, compaction plates, mulchers and factory-installed couplers, buckets and thumbs. A five-year telematics subscription is included, providing remote monitoring for diagnostics and service needs.

The cab design emphasizes operator comfort and safety. Options include a four-post ROPS/FOPS canopy or a fully enclosed cab, both featuring a pneumatic suspension seat with automatic weight control, adjustable armrests, LED lighting, climate control, joystick-mounted controls and a seven-inch LCD display offering real-time machine feedback. Additional amenities include sliding and overhead windows, USB and 12V ports, radio and speakers, rearview mirrors and a rearview camera. Safety features include a control cut-out lever, emergency exit hammer, keyed ignition locks and a two-inch seatbelt.

“We designed the E42D and E50D to deliver every time customers fire them up, but we’re not stopping there. This is the first step in the evolution of our D-Series mini excavators. More sizes, features and power are on the way as we expand the lineup,” Kakareka said.

The E42D will make its public debut at the 2025 Farm Progress Show, August 26 to 28, in Decatur, Illinois, at New Holland’s booth (#967). Both the E42D and E50D are now available through North American New Holland Construction dealerships.
