National Welding Month 2026 Celebrates 30 Years of Welding Careers and Craftsmanship
AWS marks 30 years of National Welding Month, highlighting careers, skills and community in the welding industry.
The American Welding Society (AWS) is marking the 30th anniversary of National Welding Month in April 2026, highlighting the contributions of skilled welders and the impact of welding across industries. Since 1996, AWS has recognized April as a time to raise awareness of welding as a trade, emphasizing both the expertise of current professionals and opportunities for future generations.
“Certified to build the world, welders power infrastructure, manufacturing and innovation across the globe,” said Carey Chen, AWS executive director and CEO. “This National Welding Month, we celebrate the skilled professionals who make modern life possible.”
National Welding Month 2026 features a variety of programs, campaigns and educational opportunities designed to engage the welding community and promote the trade. Key initiatives include the “My Welding Story” campaign on Instagram, which shares personal experiences from welders, educators and industry leaders. AWS 2026 President Dr. D. Joshua Burgess will also share his own career story as part of the campaign.
The Weld Wednesday podcast will release a special National Welding Month episode on April 8, 2026. Host Jason Becker and his guests will discuss unique career paths, essential skills and advice for those entering the welding industry. Throughout the month, AWS will also share industry statistics, career opportunities and insights into how welding supports sectors from construction and power generation to aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
AWS is also encouraging the community to participate through social campaigns and interactive activities. On April 16, National Welding Month’s Thank-a-Mentor Day, welders can recognize mentors who have influenced their careers. Participants are invited to share videos, tag colleagues and highlight local AWS Sections making an impact. These initiatives aim to showcase the broad reach of welding and its role in building infrastructure, communities and careers.
The month-long observance also offers educational resources and incentives. AWS is providing membership promotions, discounts on welding handbooks and online courses and giveaways of industry standards publications, custom welding helmets and other technical references. The AWS Foundation continues to support scholarships, workforce development and programs to inspire the next generation of welders.
National Welding Month 2026 reflects three decades of celebrating the skills, dedication and innovation of welders who support manufacturing, construction and infrastructure. AWS invites the welding community to participate in activities that honor the trade, share knowledge and inspire future professionals.
