Multi Parts Solutions Acquires HKX

Multi Parts Solutions (MPS) has acquired HKX Inc., a Monroe, Washington-based manufacturer of auxiliary hydraulic kits and control-system solutions for excavators and other heavy equipment.

The acquisition moves MPS into the construction equipment market and establishes HKX as its third operating division, alongside ACC Heavy Duty, formerly American Chrome Co., for commercial vehicles and MPS Automotive for the automotive aftermarket. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

HKX has more than 30 years of experience developing hydraulic kits and control-system solutions for heavy equipment. The company provides install-ready kits that allow machines to operate attachments such as breakers, thumbs, shears, and rotating tools.

A key area of HKX’s work is controls integration. As equipment has transitioned from mechanical pilot controls to electro-hydraulic and CAN-based systems, HKX has developed systems that add or augment controls within a machine’s existing electronics.

MPS said the acquisition will give HKX access to additional engineering, sourcing, testing, manufacturing, and quality capabilities, along with its proprietary Sigma development process. HKX brings application knowledge, controls integration expertise and a dealer network developed since 1993.

For dealers, equipment owners and original equipment manufacturers, HKX will continue operating from its Monroe facility. The company’s existing leadership team, including Robert Burnett, vice president and general manager of HKX, will continue to lead the division.

HKX’s Monroe facility includes in-house fabrication, CNC tube bending, kitting, and application engineering capabilities. The company said those operations will continue to support custom orders.

MPS said the acquisition also expands its capabilities in hydraulic and controls technology, which can be applied beyond the construction equipment market.
