LiuGong Expands Battery-Electric Equipment Lineup in North America
LiuGong brings battery-electric loaders, excavators and reach stackers to North America after millions of global operating hours.
LiuGong North America has announced the commercial availability of its battery-electric construction and material handling equipment portfolio in North America, introducing machines supported by more than 60,000 battery-electric units operating globally and millions of operating hours in real-world applications.
Before launching the equipment in North America, LiuGong said it spent more than 15 years developing and deploying battery-electric technology across industries including mining, ports, aggregates, tunneling, municipal operations, warehouses, container terminals and construction projects.
The company said operational data collected from thousands of machines has contributed to improvements in battery performance, charging systems, thermal management, diagnostics, serviceability and long-term durability.
One LiuGong battery-electric wheel loader has surpassed 20,000 operating hours in continuous production service. According to the company, those hours were accumulated on an active jobsite rather than through controlled testing, providing real-world validation of the machine’s durability, productivity and reliability.
For contractors and fleet owners evaluating electric equipment, LiuGong said its battery-electric platform was developed to provide the performance, uptime and reliability expected from heavy equipment while avoiding the use of first-generation technology.
North American Battery-Electric Equipment Lineup
LiuGong’s initial North American battery-electric portfolio includes the 856HE Battery-Electric Wheel Loader, 820TE Battery-Electric Loader, 924FE Battery-Electric Excavator and LRSE4531E Fully Electric 45-Ton Reach Stacker. The lineup also includes battery-electric forklifts, warehouse equipment and material handling solutions.
The company said additional battery-electric products are expected throughout 2027 as it continues expanding its electric equipment portfolio for the region.
According to LiuGong, its battery-electric machines are designed around total cost of ownership considerations. The company states that the equipment can reduce operating costs by approximately 40% to 50% compared with comparable diesel equipment through lower energy consumption, fewer service requirements and simplified maintenance.
The manufacturer said these developments are based on more than 20 years of battery research and development and more than 15 years of commercial electric equipment experience.
Equipment Adapted for North American Operations
LiuGong said its battery-electric equipment was adapted for North American operating conditions, including charging standards, electrical infrastructure, software requirements, safety certifications, environmental conditions and dealer service practices.
Each machine includes a liquid-cooled Battery Management System (BMS) built around a Cell-to-Pack battery architecture. The system monitors battery health, state of charge, charging, thermal performance, diagnostics and safety systems to support battery performance, service life and fleet uptime.
Warranty coverage for LiuGong’s battery-electric construction equipment includes:
- Complete machine: three years or 4,000 operating hours
- Transmission, axles and hydraulic components: five years or 7,000 operating hours
- Battery packs, electric drive motors and hydraulic drive motors: five years or 10,000 operating hours
Battery-electric lithium-ion forklifts include:
- Complete machine: three years or 6,000 operating hours
- Powertrain, drive motor, electric motor and controllers: five years or 10,000 operating hours
- Lithium-ion power battery: 10 years or 20,000 operating hours
