Hilltip Launches Stainless-Steel Truck Spreader
Hilltip unveils the IceStriker 4500 stainless-steel spreader with HTrack tracking, smart controls and durable design for winter contractors.
Hilltip has introduced the IceStriker 4500 SSA/SSC stainless-steel salt spreader, designed for trucks with a minimum 15,000 GVWR rating. The 4.5-cubic-yard capacity unit is built for corrosion resistance and precise material application, making it suited for contractors focused on winter maintenance efficiency.
The IceStriker 4500 is equipped with Hilltip’s HTrack tracking software, which uses two-way GPRS communication to monitor spreaders in real time. Operators can remotely track routes, vehicle speed, GPS location and material usage from a computer, tablet or smartphone. The system also enables remote jobsite and material rate settings and generates detailed reports for documentation.
The spreader is compatible with the StrikeSmart PLUS controller and TempStriker sensor, which monitor weather forecasts and surface conditions. Together, they recommend optimal spread rates and materials, while offering the option to automate settings for consistent application.
To meet varying needs, the spreader can operate on 12- or 24-volt dual motors. The 4500 SSA model includes a 6-inch stainless-steel auger, while the 4500 SSC uses a 14-inch pintle chain system to deliver material to the spinner.
The stainless-steel hopper undergoes an acid bath treatment to ensure clean welds and durability. Its design promotes smooth material flow of bulk sand, gravel, salt or sand/salt mixes, while also being easy to clean and maintain. Standard features include a flip-up chute, vibrator and inverted V. Optional equipment includes LED work lights, strobe lights, brake lights and a tarp kit.
Headquartered in Pietarsaari, Finland, Hilltip manufactures road maintenance equipment for European and North American markets. Since acquiring Industrial Metal Products (Industrial Truck Beds) in 2022, the company has expanded its presence with a manufacturing, sales and service facility in Fort Wayne, Ind.
