Hiab Launches 6,500-Pound Moffett Forklifts

Hiab has launched two truck-mounted forklifts for the North American market: the MOFFETT M8 65.3P NX2 and M8 65.4P NX2.

The models have a lifting capacity of 6,500 pounds, compared with 5,500 pounds for the previous capacity cited in the release. Hiab said the increase does not add to the forklifts' unladen transport weight.

The models are available in two configurations: a 2-Way, three-wheel directional drive configuration and a 4-Way configuration with crab-mode directional drive. Both use pantograph configurations.

The M8 series includes MOFFETT's patented Lift Assist system. According to Hiab, operators can extend up to 5,500 pounds across the full width of a truck or trailer bed at heights of up to 8 feet. The system is designed to allow unloading from one side without repositioning the transport vehicle.

Hiab said eliminating vehicle repositioning during unloading can reduce unloading times and avoid dragging materials across trailer beds. The company also said faster turnaround can support more deliveries per day, while reducing fuel consumption and operating costs over the equipment lifecycle.

The forklifts are built on MOFFETT's NX2 platform and include a Class III fork carriage, a redesigned protective grille, and 360-degree strobe beacons. SideMount+ controls are positioned for curbside access.

A 3.5-inch multifunctional color display provides information including tilt angles, fuel levels, and engine information. An integrated CAN bus gateway transmits operational data to cloud platforms through the MyHiab app and HiConnect network.

The M8 models are powered by a 59-horsepower, 44-kilowatt Rehlko KDI 1903 Turbo diesel engine. EasyService wide-access doors provide access for routine maintenance.
