DICA Introduces Engineered Ground Protection for Contractors
DICA introduces Ranger HD, Defender MD and Titan mats for tree care, landscaping and heavy-equipment access.
DICA has launched a new line of engineered ground protection and site access mats designed for tree care, landscaping, and hardscape applications. The Ranger HD, Defender MD and Titan mats provide contractors with solutions to protect turf, improve access and stabilize equipment during projects.
“Tree care and landscaping customers expect contractors to leave no trace, protecting high-value lawns and yards, avoiding root compaction to Critical Root Zones, protecting irrigation systems and complying with erosion control ordinances,” said Kris Koberg, CEO of DICA. “Engineered ground protection systems help contractors meet those expectations while enabling equipment and crews to get in and get out quickly.”
The mats are engineered for strength, durability, traction and ease of handling. They are made from thermoplastics that resist moisture, fuels, oils and jobsite contaminants, making them suitable for extreme worksite conditions. Contractors can select the appropriate mat system based on equipment size, site conditions and project duration.
The Ranger HD mat is lightweight and designed for temporary installations, offering surface protection for sensitive areas such as lawns. Dual-sided tread patterns accommodate both wheeled and tracked equipment, and built-in handholds allow one- or two-person crews to reposition mats without additional machinery. Koberg noted, “The system allows the panels to move naturally with temperature changes, while maintaining a tight, reliable connection. This helps prevent failure and reduces trip hazards, resulting in a smarter, more resilient connection system designed for real-world conditions.”
The Defender MD system is manually deployable and supports equipment up to 100 tons. Overlapping flanges transfer loads across connected panels, creating stable platforms for cranes, bucket trucks and aerial lifts. The mats measure 75 by 39.5 inches and can be installed by two-person crews, providing a flexible option for mid-duty applications.
For long-term projects requiring heavy-duty support, Titan mats deliver stability for large equipment and extended deployments. Each mat measures 6 feet, 7 inches by 13 feet, 4 inches with a 1.5-inch core, offering more than 5,700 square feet of coverage per truckload. The mats flex to follow ground contours while remaining durable and puncture-resistant, making them suitable for temporary roads, staging areas and work platforms.
DICA, based in Urbandale, Iowa, has specialized in engineered ground support and stability solutions since 1988. Its products, including crane and outrigger pads, cribbing systems and access mats, are used in over 50 countries across construction, utilities, tree care, concrete pumping and government sectors.
