Briggs & Stratton introduced its new PowerProtect+ standby generator line, adding 18-, 22- and 260-kilowatt models to its backup power portfolio.

The new PowerProtect+ line includes 64 engineering updates, according to the company. Among the most notable changes is a front-facing exhaust design intended to direct heat and fumes away from nearby surfaces and vegetation. Briggs & Stratton said the design also offers additional installation flexibility.

For contractors and property owners managing backup power needs, the new generators also add built-in access to EnergyTrak, the company’s remote monitoring platform. Through the EnergyTrak mobile app, users can monitor generator status, while dealers can remotely diagnose maintenance issues.

The 26-kilowatt model delivers more than 26 kilowatts on liquid propane and 24 kilowatts on natural gas. It includes 65.5 kilovolt-amperes of motor-starting power. Briggs & Stratton said the unit can start two five-ton air-conditioning systems while providing whole-home power.

The 22-kilowatt model delivers 22 kilowatts on both liquid propane and natural gas, while the 18-kilowatt model delivers 18 kilowatts on both fuel types. Both units provide 45 kilovolt-amperes of motor-starting power.

Briggs & Stratton said more than 70% of American households have access to natural gas, and the PowerProtect+ line is designed to deliver maximum power on natural gas.

“The quality advances we have made are unmatched,” said Tom Rugg, SVP & President of Briggs & Stratton Energy Solutions. “We know a standby generator is a significant investment for homeowners, so we offer a unique generator with features not available elsewhere. The PowerProtect+ line is built to the highest quality standards for reliable backup power and the front-facing exhaust, motor starting capability and advanced EnergyTrak monitoring together create what we believe are the best standby generators on the market. It’s because of our confidence that we back up your investment with the best warranty.”

The PowerProtect+ line carries a seven-year warranty covering parts, labor and travel. Briggs & Stratton said a 10-year dealer-exclusive warranty is also available on qualifying purchases.
