Brigade Electronics Launches AI Human Form Recognition Box for Fleet Retrofits
Brigade Electronics introduces the AI HFR Box, a retrofit solution that adds pedestrian detection to existing vehicle camera systems.
Brigade Electronics has introduced the AI Human Form Recognition (HFR) Box, an adapter unit designed to upgrade existing vehicle camera systems with artificial intelligence-based pedestrian detection.
The AI HFR Box installs between a vehicle’s camera and monitor and processes video using software to identify vulnerable road users (VRUs). When a person is detected, the system triggers visual and audible alerts to the operator. The product was originally developed for vehicles operating in the construction sector and is also intended for on-road commercial transportation.
The system is plug-and-play and supports both CVBS and AHD signals, allowing compatibility with legacy and modern fleets. It includes multiple camera inputs to expand field coverage, which may be beneficial for larger vehicles or higher-risk operating environments.
According to the company, the adapter allows fleet operators to add AI-based detection without replacing existing monitors, cameras or cables. Brigade states this reduces electronic waste, minimizes installation time and avoids extended vehicle downtime.
Corey Heniser, CEO of Brigade Electronics Inc., said:
“The AI HFR Box represents a practical and forward-thinking approach to fleet safety. By converting existing camera systems into intelligent human form recognition solutions, we are making advanced AI technology more accessible, sustainable, and cost-effective for operators. It is a meaningful step forward in supporting safer roads and job sites across North America.”
The product is applicable across construction, waste, municipal, road transportation and other commercial sectors.
