The 2025 State of the Mobile Compressed Air Industry Report shows limited interest in electric vehicles (EVs) among mobile service fleets, despite increased industry attention on electrification. According to the report, only 5% of survey respondents indicated they are considering EVs for future fleet purchases.

The findings point to ongoing concerns surrounding infrastructure availability, vehicle performance, reliability and overall cost. Many operators reported uncertainty about whether electric vehicles can meet demanding jobsite requirements, especially when integrated with mobile compressed air systems.

“Electric vehicles are part of the future, but the industry is not there yet,” said Mike Pettigrew, VMAC marketing manager. “Our customers are focused on uptime, payload and productivity, and until EVs can reliably deliver those, they will take longer to be adopted.”

The report emphasizes the continued importance of gas, diesel and alternative fuel platforms as the industry prepares for a gradual transition toward EV compatibility. VMAC stated it is monitoring fleet preferences and investing in technologies designed to adapt to future power source changes.

The State of the Mobile Compressed Air Industry Report is published annually and includes responses from business owners, mechanics, fleet managers and service truck upfitters. The 2025 report is available for free download.
