Ten years ago, brothers Kevin Housby and Kelly Housby realized there were very few avenues for ready mix producers to disperse of their mixer trucks and other aging used equipment.   Traditionally, ready mix companies sold their equipment independently to end users, brokers, dealers or OEMs who would accept trades.  By establishing VOCON Remarketing, the Housby’s provided the ready mix industry a new, innovative platform to disperse of their used equipment. VOCON is dedicated to the remarketing of vocational type vehicles through the auction process. From appraisals, freight, clean up, title administration and transportation, VOCON offers a full menu of services which makes buying, selling and participation easy.

The Housby’s also realized many auction companies emphasized highway type or heavier yellow iron products.  VOCON was developed to cater to the niche products of vocation type trucks, trailers and other equipment specifically associated with the ready mix producer. VOCON is associated with Taylor & Martin, Inc. Auctioneers, to provide nationwide public auction services.  Each sale averages 400 participants, thousands of on-line bidders which attracts an average of 75% end-user buyers.  The VOCON process allows maximum participation from a variety of buyers which enhances the value of the ready mix producer’s equipment. VOCON offers new mixer truck product complete with full warranties to assist ready mix producers immediate need for ready to work mixer trucks.

Housby’s 35 years of dedication to the ready mix industry, their longstanding customer relationships and industry/product knowledge brings value to the ready mix producers dispersal requirements.  Many of the largest ready mix producers in the world consign their equipment through VOCON.   Dexter Tart of Ready Mixed Concrete Company/Argos in North Carolina works closely with VOCON personnel to consign large quantities of equipment.  Tart says “The most impressive aspect of VOCON has not only been the dollar values retrieved, but their ability to handle the entire sales process. With VOCON exclusively focused on vocational equipment utilized by ready mix producers, sales efforts are entirely dedicated to consignors and buyers’ equipment type  specific to the ready mix industry. 

From mixers to dumps, loaders  and trailers, VOCON buyers are able to purchase a wide range of products catering to their specific industry.  Lynn Hatch of Hatch Construction & Paving in Arizona is a regular VOCON customer.  Hatch recently purchased four 2007 Mack and Peterbilt Mixer trucks from VOCON and says the sales staff and pricing is what keeps him coming back. Companies who remarket their equipment through VOCON receive the fastest, most efficient and seamless method of selling equipment.  Omar Blanco of CEMEX works closely with VOCON to consign and sell all their used mixer trucks. Given industry consolidation, larger ready mix producers are sensitive to their former mixer trucks reentering their market as competitive mixer trucks.

As part of VOCON, VOC is designed to eliminate the risk of their older mixer trucks becoming their new competition.

By contacting VOCON all that’s required by the ready mix producer is to identify the mixer trucks designated for VOC type dispersal.

VOCON will pick up the mixer trucks from the producer’s facility, then transport units to VOCON’s pre-sale facility. VOCON removes all of the mixer systems components to include in-cab controls and disengagement of the P.T.O. VOCON then disposes of all mixer components with no liability to the ready mix producer.

 After divorcing the mixer system from the truck, VOCON cleans up the units and sells the former mixer truck as cab and chassis at  a sale. The specifications of the former mixer truck allows it to retrieve attractive values as cab and chassis for a variety of applications.
