New RAC Plus Distance Measuring Instruments now available from JAMAR Technologies, Inc.

Horsham, PA -- October 18, 2005 - The new RAC Plus series of distance measuring instruments, from JAMAR Technologies, are cost-effective units that save time and money by allowing personnel to measure distance, accurate to 1 foot per mile, while driving as fast or slow as necessary. Applications for these devices include safety zone layout, estimating material requirements, documenting quantities, pre-bid measurements and many more.

This new series replaces the older RAC-100 and RAC-200 units, which were originally introduced in 1993 and quickly became an industry favorite. The new RAC Plus I is a direct replacement for the RAC-100, and can be used for standard distance measuring in the field. The new RAC Plus II is a direct replacement for the RAC-200 and has all the features of the RAC Plus I, along with the ability to store data in memory and download to a computer.

The RAC Plus series offers a number of new features and improvements to the older RAC-100/200 units.

New Smaller Size - The new RAC Plus series DMIs are 33% smaller than the older RAC-100/200 models. This makes the Plus unit easier to mount in the vehicle, and gives you more room for other equipment.

New Dual Window Display - Where the older RAC-100/200 had only one display window, the new RAC Plus units have dual displays, which provide more information in an easier to understand format. The two 6-digit high-intensity LED display windows (exclusive to the RAC Plus series) allow flexibility in displaying data to you. The upper, larger display window is primarily used to display distance. It is also used to indicate menu locations and time. The lower, smaller display window is used to display count status, speed, interval distance, menu descriptions, event codes, etc.

New Menu Driven Commands - One of the advantages of the new dual display in the RAC Plus is the ability to show more information on the screen. Using this capability has made the unit easier to operate by providing menu driven commands. The Menu key allows you to select from a variety of functions. After pressing the Menu button, the Add and Sub keys can be used to scroll through the options, which are displayed in the secondary display. To select an option, press the ENT (Enter) key.

New Adjustable Brightness Control - All RAC Plus units have a new key function, DIM, which allows you to adjust the brightness level of the display. With this new feature, you can easily adjust the unit's display for various light conditions. The Dim key allows you to select from four (4) levels of display brightness to best suit the ambient light conditions. Full bright is best for daylight conditions while full dim may best suit night conditions. Each time the Dim key is pressed, the brightness will drop one level until the lowest level is reached. It will then jump back to the high brightness level. Both displays, as well as the LED indicators, are controlled by the Dim key.

New Multiple Calibration Storing -It is very common to share one RAC on a plug-in basis between a number of different vehicles that have been equipped to accept the instrument. The RAC Plus has the unique ability to store in memory four (4) different vehicle numbers and their associated calibration numbers. When you turn on the RAC Plus, the active calibration number will be displayed in the primary display while the vehicle number is displayed in secondary display. With a few simple steps you can change the calibration to any of the four stored in memory.
