Model 1890XP Brush Chipper earns nickname ‘The Brute’
Now available with 180-horsepower engine, but still compact – less than 10,000 lbs.

Tree services have long searched for a high-powered, high-capacity chipper with the strength to process whole trees, and also the flotation to traverse soft ground conditions. Bandit Industries has put an end to this search by now offering their popular 18” capacity hydraulic-feed drum-style Model 1890XP brush chipper as a single-axle unit with a powerful 180-horsepower engine.

This engine was previously only available on the Model 1890HD (heavy-duty), whose dual axles and heavier frame often put the machine over the mandatory 10,000 lb. weight restrictions for local infrastructure. The Model 1890XP with 180-horsepower engine, nicknamed ‘The Brute’, offers the same high-production 18” chipper capacity on a single 12,000 lb. axle to more than accommodate the weight of the machine. Fully loaded, the unit weighs approximately 9,600 lbs. (weight will vary with options selected) and is 94” wide.

The Model 1890XP with 180-horsepower engine has been test marketed in Australia since early 2007 and has been a tremendous hit. Mark Marriott, owner of Marriott Tree Services in Sydney, can’t believe the success he’s had selling these units.

“We have been overwhelmed by the response from customers,” Marriott said. “The 1890XP Brute has opened up a whole new market for us. We’ve had numerous sales from loyal Bandit customers who were looking to upgrade their 250 or 254, and the 1890XP with the big engine has been exactly what they were after.” He continued, “Previously when a customer had their heart set on a high powered, compact single axle 18” chipper we had nothing to show them, so they went off and bought a competitor’s machine, which really hurt!  Not anymore.”

These high-horsepower units were released in the United States in July 2007 and met with similar success. The single axle, compact size and high-powered chipping capacity make the 1890XP Brute a top contender for high-production tree services looking to quickly and efficiently dispose of large diameter and extremely limby materials. Even when fully loaded with the optional hydraulic winch, hydraulic lift cylinder, and with a full fuel tank, the unit still weighs in under the legal limit for transport.

The 1890XP, like all Bandit hydraulic-feed drum chippers, also features the patented “power slot”, which is cut into the belly of the chipper. This allows for proper flow of air through the discharge and provides a slot for chips that might remain in the housing to escape. This design makes Bandit drum chippers virtually impossible to plug. The power slot also provides more velocity out of the chip discharge, reduces the necessary horsepower to discharge chips, thus improving fuel economy. Now, tree services can take the industries’ toughest, most efficient and dependable chipper with them, wherever the job may be.
