AED ANNUAL MEETING SETS THE STAGE FOR A SPECTACULAR 2006 OAK BROOK, IL. — If AED’s (Associated Equipment Distributors) 87 th Annual Meeting & CONDEX is any indication of the strength of the year ahead, 2006 will most definitely be another great year. AED’s Annual Meeting, held January 26-28 in San Diego, was the largest ever – with a sold-out CONDEX trade show, several sold-out hotels, every hospitality suite taken and the highest number of dealer attendees in over five years. “By everything we measure, the 2006 Annual Meeting & CONDEX was up,” says Toby Mack, AED President. “Participation was up, CONDEX was up, and enthusiasm was way up.”A few of the many high points of this year’s event were a keynote speech by former Congressman and Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and the Tribute to Past, Present and Future Leaders aboard the USS Midway. Business sessions included information on the equipment market, buying and selling used equipment, an update on health care costs and tax laws, and information on valuing equipment dealerships. In addition, global economic expert Gerard Baker provided insight into how to succeed in the global economy and Construction Equipment Publisher Rick Blesi presented the 2006 Annual Report & Forecast. “It was good to hear from Baker and Blesi that the year ahead would be good,” says 2006 AED Chairman Dale Leppo of Leppo Rents/Bobcat of Akron. “It certainly seems to prove the theory held by many that the AED annual meeting is the best indicator of what kind of year we can expect.”The 2007 Annual Meeting & CONDEX will be held in Las Vegas, January 16-18. AED is an association of independent distributors, manufacturers, and other organizations involved in the distribution of construction equipment and related products and services in North America and throughout the world. AED members sell, service and rent equipment to markets that include heavy and light construction, mining, agriculture, forestry, aggregates, engines and industrial.
